Currently I have been working on a piece titled The Planes Walkers, a coming-of-age middle grade fantasy in the same mold as Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson, but with a touch of gritty adventure in the style of John Flanagan’s Ranger’s Apprentice.
Jet Cafl is a poor child of the industrial city Calbar, barely getting by with his older brother Dustan. Dreaming of living in the large Emperor Wrathel’s castle one day, the two work odd jobs every day to survive. Then they get their wish when Dustan turns out to be a Spirit Elementalist and it draws the attention of the Emperor himself.
After one night in the Emperor’s midst, everything Jet had wished for ended up almost getting him killed. Wrathel, revealing himself as a Soul Elementalist, wants to use Spirit Elementalists as a fuel to open rifts to the Elemental Planes, where he would have unlimited power.
Now another awakened Spirit Elementalist, The Planes Walkers follows Jet through the lands of Elementalists to gather allies to put a stop to the Emperor, even if it means going to the Planes and back.
